About the Gunsmith

As a journeyman machinist for almost 40 years, I've worked in sheet metal fabrication shops, machine manufacturing facilities, and tool & die shops. Finally the idea hit me to put together what I know with what I love, so I enrolled with the Penn Foster Career School and received a Career Diploma as Gunsmith in 2007. Patton Gunsmith Works opened in Sutherland VA in May of 2008.  In 2011, I became a certified AGI Law Enforcement Armorer, and in July of 2018 the shop relocated to beautiful Shenandoah VA and is now open full time.

Useful information

"whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ"

Colossians 3:17

Safety Tips:

  • Assume that a gun is always loaded.

  • Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot.

  • Always keep your weapon clean and functioning properly.

  • If your firearms have ever been through a catastrophic event (fire, flood or extended time out in the elements) they should be safety checked and fully cleaned.
